Athlete Profile

Alanna Kraus, 24, of Abbotsford, B.C., qualified for her first Olympics in style. In front of a hometown crowd, Kraus won the 500 metres and finished second in both the 1,000 and 1,500 metres at the Olympic trials last November. Kraus finished seventh overall at 2001 world championships. Her resume also includes a bronze medal in the relay at the 2000 world championships and a silver medal in the relay at the 2000 Goodwill Games. She'll compete in four events in Salt Lake City: the 500 metres, 1,000 metres, 1,500 metres and 3,000-metre relay.
