Isabelle Charest, 31, of Montreal is set to make her third Olympic appearance despite taking the 2000-2001 season off to concentrate on her studies. Charest, a 13-year member of the national team, broke the Olympic record in the 500 metres in Nagano en route to a gold medal. The first woman to skate the event under 45 seconds, she also held the world record in that same event from 1996 to 1999. Charest also won a bronze medal in the relay at the 1998 Games to go with a silver won in the relay at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer.
She'll compete in four events in Salt Lake City: the 500 metres, 1,000 metres, 1,500 metres and 3,000-metre relay.
Drolet is married to Steve Charbonneau, a defensive lineman with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
