Eric Brisson, 28, of Ste-Foy, Que., is heading to his first Olympics at Salt Lake. He'll be skating in the 500m for Canada; his best time in the event is 35.33. Brisson placed eighthh in the 1999 and 2000 World Cup Championships. His goal at Salt Lake is to finish in the top 6, putting him in the top 8 in Overall World Cup standing. Brisson started skating at the age of four, and has one racing superstition: He always puts on the left skate first, and then the right skate, tying up the left skate first and then the right. As an osteopathy student, Brisson hopes to someday open a clinic.
