Éric Bédard, 25, of Ste-Thecle, Que., enters Salt Lake City with gold on his mind. Bédard finished the 2001 World Cup short-track speed skating season in first place overall yesterday. Bédard, a double Olympic medalist in Nagano, Japan, in 1998, will lead Canada's 5,000-metre relay team. At the Nagano Games, Bédard, who was then still in his first season with the national team, won a bronze medal in the 1000 metres and was a part of Canada's gold medal-winning relay team.
