Like many of her teammates, Michelle Kelly, 27, of Calgary moved from bobsleigh took take up the sport of skeleton.
She can't help but be confident heading into the Salt Lake City Games. She holds the track record of 49.92 seconds at the high-altitude Utah Olympic Park, as the only woman skeleton slider to break the 50-second barrier.
Kelly finished the recent World Cup season fifth in the standings, but gained important momentum heading into the Olympics by winning the circuit's final race at St. Moritz, Switzerland in early January.
"It will be nice to prepare on peaking for the games, working on the small details," Kelly told the Globe after the win.
