Lindsay Alcock, 24, of Calgary certainly doesn't have much in terms of experience. She just completed her rookie season on the World Cup skeleton circuit.
She's a medal contender nonetheless.
Alcock's first year garnered three medals on the short five-race circuit. Named the rookie of the year, she placed third in year-end rankings. In all, her amazing rookie season -- a gold, two bronzes, a fourth and an eighth place -- marks her as a medal contender. Four top-six placings guaranteed her selection to the Salt Lake sled squad.
"I really like the Salt Lake City track," she told the Globe. "I'll have to refine a few tricky corners, but I'd love to go after [teammate Michelle Kelly's track record."]
Alcock, who was an indoor sprinter at the University of Calgary, has set start records for the national team and at the Olympic track in Salt Lake's Park City (which has since been broken).
