Tyler Seitz, 25, of Calgary is the senior member of Canada's Olympic luge team.
Seitz began his career at the national beginners' program at Calgary's Olympic Park. At 12 years old, he was the youngest Canadian luger ever and was a pioneer of the national junior program.
In 1996, Seitz became the first Canadian to win a medal at a world junior championships. Two years later, he made his Olympic debut, finishing 18th at the Nagano Games. At the 1999 world championships in Koenigssee, Germany, he continued his international ascent, finishing 13th - the best Canadian men's singles result in 10 years.
Fittingly, in December of 1999, Seitz became the first Canadian luger to qualify for the Salt Lake City Olympics.
