Grant Albrecht, 21, of Calgary first began sliding as a single in 1994. Four years later, in 1998, he was paired with current doubles partner Mike Moffatt. By the next year, the pair were competing at the World Cup level. The two won the 1999 and 2001 Canadian titles and have enjoyed steady improving results at World Cup events.
Kyle Connelly, 21, of Calgary joined the national junior luge team in 1998. He made an immediate impact on the junior World Cup circuit, posting top-ten results, and at the national level with several top-five finishes.
Connelly is now in his second full season at the senior level. He qualified for the Salt Lake City Olympics in late November by finishing third among the four Canadians qualifying for the Olympics at a the Viessmann World Cup race held in Lake Placid, N.Y. With that result, he earned the final spot on the Canadian team.
