Vicky Sunohara, 31, is one of the old timers on the Canadian squad. She and Geraldine Heaney played in the inaugural world women's championships in 1990. In all, Sunohara, who took a brief rest from hockey before returning in 1996, has won gold with the Canadian team at five world championships (1990, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001).
The forward from Scarborough, Ont., was the faceoff leader at 2000 tournament, winning 62-of- 81 draws taken. Sunohara is the captain of the Brampton Thunder of the NWHL.
