Cherie Piper, 20, was a late addition to the national team. She was added to the squad in early January as coach Danielle Sauvageau attempted to bolster the club's offence following a disappointing series of games against the United States.
Piper, a forward from Scarborough, Ont., was one of the final cuts from the initial Olympic roster. She had scored eight points in 12 games with the team prior to that point. She also scored 18 goals in 13 games while starring over the past two seasons with the under-22 team. Piper was a member of the national team for a tour in January 2001 and participated in the TSN Challenge.
