International history: Selected for Canada's 2001 world championship team, but didn't play because of a broken wrist. Member of Canada's 1997 gold-medal winning world championship team. Won a gold medal with 1996 world junior team, where he won the tournament's scoring title and was named outstanding forward.
What he brings: The NHL's scoring leader through the first third of the season, Iginla is an emerging power forward, a robust physical player who nevertheless possesses soft scoring hands. Improved his skating immeasurably by doing sprint training in the off season, to the point where the big ice works for him, not against him.
Career highlights: Runner-up to Bryan Berard for the 1997 Calder trophy as rookie of the year. Twice a winner of the NHL's player of the month for February and November of 2001.
