Adam Foote
Defenceman
Born: Toronto.
DOB: July 10, 1971 (30). Height: 6-2, Weight, 215. Shoots: Right. NHL team: Colorado Avalanche.
International history: Member of Canada's 1998 Olympic team. Won silver medal at 1996 World Cup. Played three games for 1989-90 Canadian national team.
What he brings: A steady, stay-at-home presence on the blueline. Can play a contain-style of defence, but is known mainly for his ability to rub out an opponent on the boards and in front of the net with punishing body checks. Underrated puck-moving skills, will occasionally get a shift on the Avalanche power play.
Career highlights: Won Stanley Cup championships with Colorado in both 1996 and 2001. Led the NHL in penalty minutes with 47 in last year's playoffs. An OHL first team all-star in 1991.
