Born: Carmen, Man.
DOB: Apr. 21, 1965 (36). Height 5-11, Weight 192. Catches: Left. NHL team: Dallas Stars.
International history: Participated in Canada's Olympic orientation camp in Calgary, his first international experience since winning a gold medal with Canada in the 1991 Canada Cup tournament, where he was the back-up goalie. Spent the 1989-90 season with the Canadian national team, posting a 13-12-6 record, with a 3.08 GAA.
What he brings: Requires a great deal of private preparation for every game, but remains one of the fiercest competitors in the NHL. Belfour was something of a surprise addition because he was having only a so-so season through the first half, but the team opted for his NHL experience over Sean Burke's long history of international successes.
Career highlights: A member of the Dallas Stars' 1999 Stanley Cup winning team, Belfour set a franchise record for wins with his 146th victory in December against Edmonton. Is the Stars' all-time shutout leader (27) following a 16-save shutout vs. Nashville.
