Dana Antal, 24, represented Canada for the first time at the 2001 world championships, although she was unable to play due to an injury sustained in an exhibition game. That continued a string of back luck for the forward from Esterhazy, Sask.
Antal came close to making the Nagano Olympic team in 1988. She was one of 28 centralized players for the 1997-1998 season. She was a late cut.
In 2000, Antal made the world championship team but tore her anterior cruciate ligament in an exhibition game a few days before the tournament.
Antal won a gold medal with her club team, Oval X-Treme, at 1998 Esso National Women's Hockey Championship and a silver medal in 1999.
