Nicolas Fontaine, 31, of Magog, Que., has won 11 World Cup gold medals, but save for a silver in 1992 when aerials were a demonstrations sport, he's never reached the Olympic podium. He finished sixth at the 1994 Lillehammer Games and 10th in Nagano in 1998.
Fontaine credits Lloyd Langlois, a two-time world aerials champion from his hometown, with getting him into the sport. Langlois gave a trampoline demonstration at Fontaine's school when the future champion he was 10-years-old. Fascinated with what he saw, Fontaine build a ski jump behind his house and started working on his own tricks.
