Athlete Profile

Veronica Brenner, 27, of Sharon, Ont., is a seasoned veteran of the national team.

Brenner was the 1996-97 world aerial champion, finishing that season ranked first in the world. She enjoyed similar success for the next four years, capped by a gold medal at the 2000 Goodwill Games. Then disaster struck. Brenner suffered a complete tear of her anterior cruciate ligament while training in Alberta in 2000. She missed the entire 2000-2001 season, including the world championships. Now fully recovered, she hopes to improve upon a ninth-place finish at the Nagano Olympics four years ago.
