Jeff Bean of Ottawa hasn't had the easy ride to Salt Lake City. Bean, 25, broke his femur early in the 1999-2000 season at an event at Blackcomb, B.C., and was forced to miss rest of the campaign. In the summer of 2000, the six-year national team veteran underwent surgery for a recurring knee injury. It was an operation from which he found further damage to his femur.
Bean, who won his first World Cup event in Kirchberg, Austria in 1997, has slowly returned to his previous form. Ranked fifth in the world in aerials after the 1996-1997 season, he is now ranked 12th.
