Jamie Fortier, 26 of Canmore, Alta., hopes Salt Lake City brings better Olympic memories than her experiences in Nagano in 1998. Fortier and several teammates became ill when competing at the Japanese Games. She lists her most embarrassing moment as having to eat breakfast in the cafeteria of the athletes' village in Nagano covered with a penicillin rash. Overwhelmed by her first Olympic experience, she finished 77th in the five-kilometre classic.
Fortier, in her sixth season with national team, will compete in four events in Salt Lake City: the five-kilometre pursuit; 15-kilometre freestyle; 4x5-kilometre relay and the sprint. Her younger sister, Amanda, will also compete at the Games.
