Yannick Morin, 26, of Montreal took an unorthodox route to bobsleigh, competing in acrobatics and football before beginning a successful career in bodybuilding. As a bodybuilder, he won the Canadian championships in 1998 and the Mr. Universe competition that same year.
His bobsleigh training is equally odd. He trains in Montreal that lacks proper training facilities. Morin compensates by filling a shopping cart full of weights and pushing it up and down a high school track. His power lifting background makes him an ideal candidate to be effective in the national team program.
The third-year national team member will compete in the two-man competition in Salt Lake City.
