Ahmed Marshall, 23, of Calgary has made a successful transition from track and university football to bobsleigh. The former University of Calgary wide receiver was looking for a sport in which he could use his sprinting ability, turning to bobsleigh in 1997.
He made his national team debut that same year. In his first competitive experience at the America's Cup event in Calgary in February of 1999, Marshall and partner Duff Gibson finished second in the two-man event. He had been competing on the World Cup circuit with Pierre Lueders' team ever since.
