Genevieve Simard of Val-Morin, Que., made her World Cup debut this season. It's been a long time in the works.
Simard, 21, suffered a serious knee injury in 1999 that jeopardized her career. Her comeback has brought impressive results. Simard climbed the podium 11 times last season with strong performances in Europa Cup, Nor Am and International Ski Federation races. She also placed second in giant slalom at the Pontiac GMC Canadian championships.
