Jean-Philippe Roy of Ste-Flavie, Que., couldn't have asked for a more impressive World Cup debut. Roy, 22, raced to two top-30 finishes and an eighth-place result at the world championships in 2001, which secured his spot on the Olympic team.
In 2000, Roy won his first national giant slalom title and the combined title. He had similar success last year, winning the national slalom and giant slalom titles. Roy is also the reigning GS champion and finished second overall in Nor Am tour standings last season.
