ATTACK ON THE U.S.

Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006

Reactions to the attack on America

Many people are taking the check in procedures too seriously and should realize that the inquiring and checking of bags is compulsory and must be done and that in the future, it will be done all of the time.
Andrew Machula

A letter-writer commented, "It's about time the Americans got a taste of what is happening around the world." Should I presume he would include Canadians as well? It inflames me to think people out there believe those 6,000 people deserved what happened to them. Americans, Canadians, as well as people of other nationalities all perished at the hands of these madmen, who believe the values of Western civilization -not just American culture - are corrupt.
Angela Hardy

I hope that Prime Minister Jean Chrétien makes the right moves in dealing with terrorists in Canada. But are we going to freeze terrorist assets in Canada also?
Basil H. Richard

By going to war, the United States is just responding with terror that will continue the vicious cycle.
Arthur Blaxley

It is very nice and very appreciated to see the comments on this board. Honestly, people here in the United States were pretty upset - or at least taken back - that the Canadian Prime Minister has been so distant.
M. Kelly

Our usual anti-American stance as Canadians now looks more ridiculous than ever, as some still can't shake their prejudices against Americans even now.
Martin Gomez, Toronto

How dare some of your letter writers sit in judgment of America at a time when our country is still trying to deal with the attacks of Sept. 11? I have read everything from we had it coming to we are oppressing Muslim countries around the world. The United States of America is the most benevolent country ever to exist on the face of this earth. It infuriates me to hear what should be an ally of ours contradict and condemn our actions.
Greg Smith
