  1. Marian Olson from Canada writes: By all means proceed with the usual talk-talk attempting to bring the chaos in Somalia to an end, but don't expect any results for a decade or so. Instead learn from the past - when the Battle of the Atlantic raged and the best defense against the German U-boats was the convoy system. Only a little cooperation between a few first world countries and ample warning that a "shoot-first-ask-questions-later" policy would be enforced would go a long way to controlling this piracy on the high seas.

    The Maersk Line not only owns 50 tankers but also aproximately 450 other large ships. Sounds like other shipping companies will follow suit.
    Egypt will be destitute, no revenue from the Canal.
    Egypt will be closed until further notice.

    If I was the shippers of the world, I'd send the bills for this mess to George Bush.
