Stanley Feldman from Toronto, Canada writes: This is a truly heart-warming story, in the vein of Voltaire's "Candide". However I was surprised that the Globe's review makes no mention of "Q & A", the extraordinary book by Vikas Swarup upon which the movie is based.

pirate captain from Canada writes: Yes! The book!
As I was reading the review I was thinking- "I know this story. I read this!".
It seems as though the reviewer did not know it was based on the novel?
The story did not spring forth from the mind of Danny Boyle and screenwriter Simon Beaufoy, rather from the brilliant Vikas Swarup.
I'll still see the film, though.- Posted 13/11/08 at 10:57 AM EDT | Link to Comment

Francois Hunter from Canada writes: The book was very badly written - but yes, spun a good yarn. Almost as if the author thought: "Let's see if I can get a movie deal out of this - let's write this as if it were a screenplay". A tactic reminiscent of the ghastly Da Vinci Code.
