    What does Mme Royal's relationship with a man she had FOUR children for have to do with her cosmetic surgery??
  2. Kate Louette from Paris, France writes: I don't usually feel that the private lives of politicians are relevant to their public role. But in this case, Mr. Hollande and Ms. Royal misleadingly presented themselves as a "power couple," a package deal, when in fact it has been widely known over here, mainly through the Internet, that they were each involved with other people and had been for some time. The mainstream media should have debunked the lie, so that voters could see just how far the alleged couple was willing to go to further their quest for power. That kind of politically expedient dishonesty reveals a degree of opportunism that boded ill for the country if they had achieved high office.
  3. Alistair McLaughlin from Ottawa, Canada writes: "The relationship between Ms. Royal and Mr. Hollande has fascinated France after Ms. Royal's speedy rise to become the party's presidential candidate last year -- a position traditionally reserved for the party head.

    "She lost the presidential election last month but has since made clear that she wants to replace Mr. Hollande as Socialist secretary-general."

    Gee, she's been doing everything she can to usurp her husband - oops, I mean "partner"; first by gunning for and obtaining the presidential candidacy that normally would have gone to him, now by boldly pursuing his party leadership position. Is it any wonder they're separating? Regardless of how much of a New Age Sensitive Man Monsieur Hollande is, certainly he must have his limits.

    That's cold! They're like a French version of the Clintons.
