Health officials testing mosquitoes for West Nile


lth officials in British Columbia began testing mosquitoes yesterday for the West Nile virus.

Bonnie Henry, with the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, expects the virus to hit the province this spring and summer.

She is part of team that will conduct a provincial surveillance and testing program, laying traps for mosquitoes at about 160 areas around the province.

The insects are sent to labs in Vancouver and Abbotsford.

Health officials will also test dead crows, and ask residents to report any sightings. CP
