Ontario bans pit bulls

Toronto — Ontario's controversial bill to ban pit bulls has been passed in the provincial legislature.

Under the law, only people who already own pit bulls can keep their pets as long as the animals are neutered and muzzled in public.

Municipalities have until late summer or early fall to implement the ban.

The legislation still requires royal assent before it's proclaimed into law.
