DAVID JAMES CHRISTIE
January 27, 1940 - September 7, 2018
David died peacefully with his family by his side. Loving husband for 51 years of Valerie (Quinlan). David was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, immigrating to Montreal, Quebec to study at McGill University in 1959. David moved with his wife and children to Toronto in 1973 to pursue his career in the financial services industry. His career began in Montreal in 1964 with A.E. Aames & Company. After moving to Toronto in 1973, A.E.Ames & Company went through several acquisitions and mergers eventually becoming Royal Bank Dominion Securities. David made a final switch in 1991 and finished his career at Royal Bank Investment Management in a role with the Latin American department. David and Valerie's philanthropy benefitted many organizations in Toronto, particularly in education, healthcare and the arts.
David is predeceased by his parents, Christina (McHardy) and James Christie and his sister, Heather Scates (James). Left to mourn are his younger sister, Elizabeth Martin (Donald); daughter, Susan Christie; son, Bruce Christie (Tara); and daughter, Carol Culp (Graham); as well as grandchildren, Audrey and Kenji Kamachi, Aidan Culp and Isabel, Gwendolyn and Edward Christie. His many nephews and nieces and their children also remember David.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Funeral Centre, with celebration of life service beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pathways To Education.
