CAMERON NEIL ROGERS

Passed away on March 15, 2018 in his 90th year at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Dearly beloved husband of the late Marie Catherine Rogers (nee Higgins). Loving father of William Brent Rogers (Hanna Sandler) and Cameron Glenn Rogers (Marilyn). Proud grandfather of Cameron and Veronica Rogers. Predeceased by his parents, William 'Bill' and Ruth (nee Chambers) Rogers; and sister, Coral Wynne. Dear brother of Betty Hastings and dear brother-in-law of Margaret Higgins.
Born in Carnarvon, Ontario, Neil moved with his family to Toronto at age eight where he completed his education at Danforth Tech and later University of Toronto. Neil went on to have a long and very distinguished career with IBM in various management positions. Having 'retired' early, he and Marie moved to their home on Chandos Lake where they actively sold real estate and were very involved in community affairs.
Neil served for 10 years as Reeve of Chandos Township and Councilor on Peterborough County Council. He served as a Director on the Board of the Peterborough Civic Hospital and Chaired that board during that hospital's merger with St. Joseph's Health Centre to form the present day Peterborough Regional Health Centre. As the first board Chair of PRHC, Neil led the planning, construction and completion of the present day PRHC site. Neil was a longtime licensed Amateur Radio operator and enjoyed the many friends he met as an active member of the Peterborough Amateur Radio Club. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, Granddad, and friend. Above all, he was an outstanding father, friend, and mentor to his two sons who will miss him most dearly. A very kind, caring and considerate gentleman, always offering to help, always thinking of others first, he was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and wide circle of friends.
