KANWAR, Amar Jit SinghHe taught me to always play to win. October 12, 1926 - November 8, 2017
My inspiration, my hero, my role model, my father (Darji) took his last breath doing what he loved to do, taking a walk enjoying the fall air at our home. He lived every day being true to 3 principals; health, education and giving back. His legacy to myself, my children and my children's children will be to live by his kind, loving and generous nature. With respect and love, we will honour his legacy today and always.
In 1947 during the partition of India, he became a refugee and settled in the state of Punjab. Through his deep seeded spiritual beliefs, education and hard work, he achieved a successful career as a banker.
Darji was predeceased by my loving mother and his wife of 28 years, Surinder Kaur. He was a loving father to his children Col. Paran Jit Singh Kanwar, Dr. Gagan Luthra and Vijay Kanwar. He will be remembered by his daughters-in-law, Anita Kanwar, Neena Kanwar and his son-in-law Kuldip Luthra. His legacy will live on in his grandchildren; Dr. Jasmine Sood (Alok), Tanya Bari (Topush), Vikram Jit Kanwar (Ravina), Anusha Kanwar (Vibhu), Amber Kanwar (Stefan), Saber Kanwar (Neha). He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his great-grandchildren; Ethan, Hudson, Sofia, Sara, and Marlo.
Thank you Darji for making us for who we are today. You will always be with us. Funeral Services will be held at Lotus Funeral and Cremation Centre, at 121 City View Drive in Toronto, M9W 5A8, at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017. Cremation will take place at 11:30 a.m. Life Celebration will take place at 12:00 p.m.
