SCOTT, Robert Dent (RCAF, P.Eng.) 1924-2017
Bob Scott passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15 in Peterborough. Much loved husband of 66 years of Phyllis. Loving father of Susan and Nancy, dear friend and father-in-law of David Stewart, and adoring grandfather of Lindsay and John.
Bob is the last of his generation of the Scott family, born November 10, 1924 in Peterborough to George and Maisie Scott and predeceased by his sisters Peggy, Betsy and Eleanor and his brother Bill. 'Uncle Bob' is survived and loved by many nieces, nephews and their children and their grandchildren, who will miss him very much.
Bob graduated from Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School in 1942 and volunteered for the RCAF. Following his service as a WWII pilot, Bob studied Engineering at the University of Toronto and joined Canadian General Electric in Peterborough, coming on the Test Course in 1951. Bob was a pioneer in nuclear engineering at AECL's Chalk River facility in the early 1950s and worked for CGE for his entire career.
Bob had many hobbies and the talent and tools to pursue them. He could build or wire anything - house, cottage, and all the fine furniture and accoutrements inside them. Many people have tangible reminders of Bob's generosity in this regard. He was devoted above all to his family and their friends. He was the salt of the earth.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Canterbury Gardens for their kind, respectful and loving care for Bob.
There will be a funeral service and reception at St. John's Anglican Church, 99 Brock Street in Peterborough, on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will take place. Arrangements entrusted to COMSTOCK-KAYE LIFE CELEBRATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, Ontario, 705-745-4683. Online condolences may be made at www.com stockkaye.com
