Audrey Anne Purtill
September 16,1952 - September 16,

Anne passed away peacefully at the Montreal General Hospital surrounded by her family. Adored aunt of Lillian, Cynthia, and Daphne Wallace. Cherished sister-in-law of Mark Wallace and precious sister of Geraldine. Predeceased by her father, Kenneth Purtill (1965), mother, Aileen Purtill, (née Hingston, 1978) and brother Ian (1976). Anne battled cancer with the same courage, dignity and determination as she fought the tremendously difficult illness of schizophrenia. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a woman of grace, warmth, kindness, and generosity. Anne cared deeply for her friends, especially Stephan Foldes, Susan Mais, Leslie Henshaw, and the community of Our Harbour. Anne attended The Priory School and Sacred Heart School of Montreal and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. She was an artist, musician, and in her early adulthood, a skydiver with the Canadian Sport Parachuting Association, completing over 250 jumps. Anne was also an active volunteer in Montreal, giving countless hours to the Montreal Diet Dispensary. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for the exceptional care Anne received at the Montreal General Hospital. The expertise of the doctors and nurses on 4 West ensured that Anne received outstanding treatment during her many hospitalizations. In particular, we wish to thank Dr. N. Szkrumelak, Dr. K. Goddard, and Dr. L. Ofiara; nurses Andree, Corby, and Bernard; her outpatient support Susana Corbari; and the trauma team of the ICU. A Celebration of Anne's life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 194 Fourth Avenue (at Percy), Ottawa. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation (Mental Health).
