Martha passed away peacefully on December 20th, she was born in Halifax, NS during the Spanish Flu, near the end of the Great War a few months after the Halifax Explosion. Martha was born into exciting times. Marty grew up in Sarnia, ON. She was predeceased by her brother, George Wakefield Stewart (1925-1933). Marty had a brilliant academic career graduating with a B.Arch. from the University of Toronto, she was chosen as a Commonwealth Scholar and attended Cambridge for advanced studies. While raising her four children, she taught at the University of Toronto, achieved P.Eng and became Dean of Engineering. Marty had a full life and buried three husbands, all Engineers and veterans of the Second World War. She mentored hundreds of students and attended her parents through their long lives. In spite of all her commitments professional and personal, she found time to turn to her extraordinary creative energy to crocheting, rug hooking, baking and painting her beloved Sand Lake cottage. Marty spent her final years at the Baker Centre with the loving care and support of Lynn. She is survived by her children, Stewart, Lynn (Stuart), George and James Leitch and three grandchildren, Margaret, Alexandra and Isabel Leitch.
