SLUBICKI, Jerzy George
Jerzy George Slubicki passed away on May 11th, 2015, 10 days after celebrating his 90th birthday.
Jerzy was born in Warsaw, Poland on May 1st, 1925. A WWII veteran, Jerzy fought with the Polish Home Army (Armia Krajowa, AK) in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. Following the war, he moved to England and obtained a degree in mechanical engineering. Jerzy married Maria (Salach) in 1954 in London then emigrated to Canada the following year. He had long career with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation as a Professional Engineer. Jerzy was passionate about history, enjoyed making movies, travels, and many summers in Barry's Bay, Ontario with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Maria. Jerzy was the cherished father of Anna (Peter Dolan) and Christopher (Jocelyne Drouin), and the much loved grandfather of Tamara, Shannon, Julia and Eric.
Please join the family for a service in Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 3 Combermere Dr., North York, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House, or the Polish Studies Fund at the University of Toronto.
