HUNTER, Thomas Edgar
1911 - 2013
Passed peacefully and quickly on February 22 with one of his grandsons at his bedside, having just celebrated his 102nd birthday. Ed emigrated from Belfast in 1927 with his mother and 7 sisters: Agnes Downie, Elizabeth Kernohan, Rachel Willett, Mary McCausland, Kathleen Northcott, Margaret Yewen and Lily Bell, the last of whom (Kathleen) passed away in 2012 at the age of 103. Left to mourn are his sons John (Donna), David (Joanne), Ron (Heather), and Ted (Sue) and predeceased by eldest son Vince (Diane). Ed was predeceased by his loving wife of 73 years, Ivy, in 2007. Together they enjoyed full lives of good health, travel, his busy career with the Government of Canada, Customs and Excise and a large family. Ed and Ivy enjoyed their many grandchildren, and great- grandchildren, especially at their Muskoka cottage on Acton Island. Great-great-granddaughter Zoe was born in 2012. A special thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Parkview Home in Stouffville and at Butternut Manor in Uxbridge who made Ed's final few years so pleasant and comfortable. A private family funeral will be followed by burial at York Cemetery, North York on March 2nd.
