HANNA, Dr. Aura
Passed away peacefully on February 21st, following a brave battle with cancer. Aura held a PhD in cognitive psychology, and was a scientist and researcher. During her career, she worked for NASA Ames Research Center, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, and the Ontario Medical Association. Aura was passionate about education, family, art, opera, nature, and animals. She felt fortunate to have lived in a variety of places (Brantford, Toronto, Seattle, Palo Alto, Richmond, Grimsby and Mississauga) and to have met interesting people along the way. Aura is the beloved sister of David (Candice Grant) of Toronto, Ian and Karen of Oakville, and Beth of Toronto; aunt to Jessalyn Hanna (Rob Luke) of Dundas and Evan Hanna (Brigitta Ziemba) of Oakville. She is predeceased by her parents Art and Vera Hanna of Brantford. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Helen Pyle, Marlene Grzesiak from the Oakville CCAC and her colleagues, Linda and Sonia, and Peggy Dickie and the wonderful staff at the Ian Anderson House in Oakville, who all worked so effectively with us to make Aura's last days comfortable. A private burial was held at Farringdon Cemetery in Brantford on Monday. Friends and family are invited to visit at Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville on Saturday from 3 -7 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Oaks to celebrate Aura's life. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Trinity College at the University of Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario, The Canadian Cancer Society or the Ontario Humane Society.
