YOCOM, John Joseph
It is with profound sadness that the Yocom family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of John Joseph Yocom on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 at the age of 70. Loving husband of 43 years to Suzy Yocom and beloved father to son Jay and his partner Laura, son Rob and his wife Julie and son Chris. Proud 'Poppa' to grandchildren Michael and Matthew. Predeceased by his father John H. Yocom, mother Helen Yocom and twin brother Paul Yocom. Survived by his sister Mary Anne Mahoney (James) and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was born on June 2, 1942 in Toronto. Upon graduating from the University of Toronto with a BComm and MBA in commerce and finance, John enjoyed an almost 30 year career in marketing and advertising. Progressive positions at Procter & Gamble, Leo Burnett, Young & Rubicam, Labatt Brewing and TMP-Monster Worldwide afforded John the unique luxury of retiring early and allowing for a full indulgence of his favourite pursuits of playing hockey, fine wine, perfecting his 'world-famous' cooking, extensive traveling with Suzy and spoiling his family.
Friends may call at the Glen Oaks Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line (Dundas) in Oakville, for a visitation on Friday, between 2-4 PM & 6-9 PM with a funeral service to occur on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 3 PM. Online condolences may be made at www.glenoaks.ca http://mail.arbormemorial.ca/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.glenoaks.ca/.
The family requests no flowers, but rather in the spirit of giving that so greatly defined John's life, a memorial donation may be made to The Salvation Army or to a charity important to you and your family.
