HICKS, Diane Franklin (formerly Hatch, nee Jones) December 13, 1928 - February 14, 2013 It is with profound sadness that we share with you our loss of Diane Hicks (Dinnie) on February 14, 2013. Beloved only daughter of Rhetta and Frank Jones, she will be deeply missed by her husband Martin, her three children, Bill Hatch (Linda), Heather (Peter Meltzer) and Harry Hatch and step-children, Daniel Hicks, Cathy (Robert Satterwhite) and James (Barbara), as well as her five grandchildren, Jay Tredway (Donna), Heather Tredway, (Malinda Salazar), Bill and Robin Hatch, Haley Hatch-Dinel, and step-grandchildren, Aiden, Meg, Isaac, Will and Phoebe, and great-grandson, Jack. Born in Toronto Dinnie was educated at Forest Hill Village School and The Bishop Strachan School. She loved the time she spent at Camp Onawaw, the Toronto Skating Club, Rosedale Golf Club and over 60 summers at Dwight, Lake of Bays. Dinnie's approach to life was active and enthusiastic. She dedicated her life and energy to family, friends and community service. She spent many years volunteering for organizations including the Genesis Research Foundation, the Junior League, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Brazilian Ball and Grace Church on-the-Hill. Her friends were also family and she never forgot anyone's birthday! Dinnie and Marty travelled extensively during their 30 years together. Among her favourite trips were to St. Petersburg in 2000, and a marvellous 80th birthday that she celebrated on safari in Kenya. She showed extraordinary strength and tenacity during the last years of her life as her health was impacted by a number of serious medical problems. She is the biggest fighter we know and an inspiration to us all. A funeral service celebrating Dinnie's life will take place at Grace Church- on-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale Road, Toronto, on Thursday, February 21 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The Bishop Strachan School, Grace Church, or a charity of your choice.
