Bette (Betty) Florence Butler (née Milne) 80, died peacefully in her sleep on February 4, 2013 in El Paso, TX. Born in Toronto, Ontario to William and Mabel Milne, both deceased, Bette began modeling in her teens, and moved to New York to work for the Ford Modeling Agency, and subsequently opened the Bette Milne Agency in Toronto. In 1971 she married psychiatrist, Vincent John (Jack) Butler and moved with him to El Paso, TX in 1978. Jack died in 2005. Bette was previously married to jazz musician Herbie Spanier and then to CBC host/announcer Gil Christie. Bette is survived by her step-children Lisa Butler (East Aurora, NY), Michael Butler (Fort Saskatchewan, AB), daughter Laura Lee Christie (location unknown), brother Robert (Dodo) Milne and sister-in-law Mary Milne (Kitchener, ON), nephews Bruce Milne (California), Rob Milne (Waterloo, ON), cousins Diane Russell, Nancy Barton, Mary Barton (California), Sherry Lee (Brampton, ON), and other relatives, Sandra Witterick and Eric Rogers (Mississauga, ON). Bette's ashes will be interred in Durham, ON.
