Marjorie Melliship 1925-2013
Marjorie died peacefully on February 3, 2013 at Mount Edwards Court Care Home, Victoria.
Marjorie Pearson was born in Swansea, Wales. She graduated from college in 1942 and worked in Wales and England before emigrating to Canada to marry Donald Melliship on May 13, 1952 in Quebec City.
Marjorie worked in the hotel and retail industries, ending her career after 19 years with The Bay in Winnipeg.
Her sense of adventure, humour and her ability to make friends helped with many moves she made. She and her family lived in Québec, Newfoundland, Ontario and Manitoba, before she moved to Victoria in 1997.
Some of her fondest memories were volunteering with the Winnipeg Police Department and photo shoots with her friends in Winnipeg. She loved to travel. Her family and friends have great memories of trips together. Golf, the arts and volunteering were a large part of her life. She is also remembered as a warm hostess and someone who loved to make people laugh.
Marjorie was pre-deceased by her husband Donald in 1973. She is survived by children Kaye (Ian), Lesley (Paul), Neil (Shannon); grandchildren Sam, Jason, Philip, Perry, Celeste and Lauren; brother John Pearson (Barbara) and sister-in-law Marie Best.
Many thanks to the staff at Mount Edwards Court and Dr. Kier MacMillan for their compassionate care.
Marjorie requested donations be made to the charity of your choice. We will celebrate Marjorie's life at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 1611 Quadra Street, Victoria on February 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
