Son of Dora (Davison) and Neil, born September 17, 1942 in Timmins Ontario, loved husband of Rebecca Dunbar, father of Chad and Peter, father-in-law to Alma and ''Papa'' to grandson Gavin died suddenly
February 6, 2013, following a day of golf at ''Hawk's Nest'' in Vero Beach, Florida. The family appreciates the support of his sister, Twila, and his brother, Gary, who were both visiting at the time. Another brother, Clayton, lives in Schumacher, Ontario.
He attended Colorado College, where he played hockey and graduated in 1964. He returned to Canada, where he worked in the investment industry and established Commission Direct Inc. with partners in 1992. Wayne loved his work with CDI, his golf, fishing on the Indian River, his boys and grandson, the cottage, country music and his extended family. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
The family is grateful to dear lifelong friends, Peter and Jan McLachlan, who were an anchor and source of strength at this most difficult time. A memorial service is to be held at St. Andrews Church in Oakville at 2:00 p.m., February 23, 2013, with reception to follow at the Oakville Golf Club.
A tree planting ceremony and Celebration of Life, with a reception to follow, will be held at Hawk's Nest Golf Club at a future date.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Oakville Hospital Foundation or Wellspring (Halton- Peel).
