FINDLAY, Mary P
The death of Mary Phillips (Marich) Findlay occurred on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. Born in Bristol New Brunswick, she was the wife of late Sidney Findlay (1920-1998) and was predeceased by a brother, George Marich. Mary and Sid operated 'Marich's - The Country Store,' a department store renowned for quality clothing, china, linens, and outstanding service. After her retirement, Mary was appointed as the first female to the board of Directors of the New Brunswick Liquor Corporation (a position held for 12 years). Mary also worked as a fundraiser for the rotary club and was an active member of Synod for the local parish of the Anglican church. Mary was a devoted family person. Her passion for good food, and her outstanding talent for cooking cumulated in terrific kitchen gatherings on a regular basis. Mary's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the personnel at Pine Grove, the caregivers from Bayshore Services as well as her very dear friend, Dottie O'Brien. Mary is survived by her three children, Cynthia Findlay Paterson (George), George Findlay (Heather) and Nathanial Findlay (Anne); six grandchildren, Jessica Findlay, Kirk Paterson, Leah Findlay Bombicino, David G. Findlay, Sarah Findlay and David W. Findlay and a cousin, Mary Pat Newman. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on May 20th.
