SHELAGH WETHERAL ROBINSON (NEE WRIGHT)
1923 - 2013 Peacefully, with family present, on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late William Robinson (1987). Predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Wainman-Wood (1974) and her son, Nicholas Wainman-Wood (2010) . Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Gladys Wright and sister, Judith Couch. Shelagh is survived by her daughters Gillian Kennedy of Waterloo and Daphne Wainman-Wood of Guelph, sons-in-law Barry Kennedy and Unto Kihlanki, grandchildren Patrick Kennedy and his wife Jocelyn of Waterloo, Sarah Kennedy and her husband David Turcotte of Ottawa, and great-grandchildren Jack and Kyle Turcotte and Aubrey Kennedy. Shelagh served as a WREN during WWII with great pride and later as the wife of her first husband, a career diplomat with the Department of External Affairs. Their postings took them to Cuba, Finland, Poland, France, Cyprus, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Their love of travel took them to many other parts of the world. Shelagh and her second husband, Bill, enjoyed travel to faraway places also. They retired to a property overlooking the Adolphus Reach, outside of Kingston. Following Bill's death, Shelagh moved to Saint Andrews-by-the-Sea in New Brunswick to be nearer to her son, Nicholas. In 2011, Shelagh moved to Guelph to be closer to her daughters. Throughout her life, Shelagh volunteered her time through organizations such as the Red Cross and the May Court Club. She delivered Meals on Wheels well into her seventies. At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or funeral. Shelagh's ashes will be interred with those of her first husband, Thomas Wainman-Wood, in Old Chelsea, Quebec. Shelagh's family wishes to thank staff members of the Royal on Gordon Retirement Residence, Guelph General Hospital and Hospice Wellington for the excellent and compassionate care she received in her final months.
