SPROWL, William Rutherford
Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Tuesday February 5, 2013. William Rutherford, of Burford, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Christina, nee Templer (1992). Father of Kathleen (Barry) Randle, Jane (Paul) Lacalamita and John (Cathy). Grandfather of Stephen (Jeanette), Nicholas (Jessica), Andrea, Patrick, David, Kailah and Julianna. Brother to Dr. David (Shelagh). Bill, son of Percy and Myrtle, born in Burford, was part of the Canadian Army in WW2, serving in Holland. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1950 and married Christina Templer. Bill lived with quiet dignity, self- sufficiency and with life-long service to the community. As proprietor of Sprowl and Son in Burford until 1990, he was known to all. As a proud Lion, Bill received the Helen Keller award for community work. Special thanks to Dr. Jeff Manning, and the staff of Charlotte Villa, Brantford. Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Saturday February 9, 2013 from 9-11 a.m. followed by funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church,104 King Street, Burford at 11:30 a.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Holy Trinity Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
