GRUBER, Shirley Edith
83; passed away peacefully January 25, 2013 at the Odyssey Hospice, Southfield, MI, after a long illness. Shirley was born August 29, 1929 in Lapeer, Michigan, to Howard and Pearl Fish. After moving to Detroit where she met her husband Ed in 1957, she resided in Royal Oak, Michigan, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Oakland, Michigan, and finally Clarkston, Michigan. She and Ed were married 55 years. Her parents, siblings Howard, Stanley, Lorraine and Walter, predeceased Shirley in death. She will be interred at the Paint Creek Cemetery, Oakland, Michigan, next to her loving son Seth. She was the devoted mother to Alison Metrick of Toronto, grandmother to Ellie, Sam and Ben, and mother-in-law to Laurie Metrick. Shirley's creative talents led her to two fulfilling careers; as an interior decorator, then proprietor of Eleganteras Antiques in Lake Orion, Michigan. We will miss her gentleness, style and grace, her compassion for all people, and the inner beauty that shone through her beautiful blue eyes. A Private Celebration of Her Life will be held in the near future for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to your favorite charity.
