Peacefully, with family present on Monday, January 21st, in Toronto: after a long struggle with Dementia. Predeceased by parents, Nelson and Victoria Gerry and brother, Ron. Survived by cousin, Karen Rempel of Calgary. Joyce leaves a legacy of four loving daughters - Laura Jacobs, Cynthia Bennett (Paul), Julia MacNames (Howard) and Wendy Mayeur (Thierry); grandchildren Dylan (Caitlin), Sara, Marina, Peter, Hayden and Avery and great-grandchildren Max and Kieran. Survived by husband, Christopher Hart, and ex-husband, Peter MacNames.
Joyce brought much joy to many with her exemplary talents at the piano. Remembered also for her quick wit and fun-loving spirit. After attending Humbercrest Public School and The Bishop Strachan School, Joyce earned an Honours B.A. in English, and A.R. C.T. in music from U. of T. Later she obtained her Real Estate licence. Before the advent of television, Joyce was featured on radio programme, ''Opportunity Knocks''.
Heartfelt thanks to Ashkiro, Rebecca and Dr. Kapur of St. Joseph's Heath Centre for their compassionate palliative care. Extending much gratitude to the 2nd floor staff at Lakeside Long Term Care; having been Joyce's home for nearly 10 years. Joyce's heart will forever remain at ''Illawarra'', her beloved Lake Rosseau cottage.
No visitation. Cremation has occurred. Private family interment, followed by celebration of Joyce's life, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, a donation to either The Royal Conservatory of Music or The Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
