Elmer Langemarck Rounding
April 27, 1915 - January 22, 2013
Passed away at home at Amica Retirement Residence on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the age of 97. Dedicated and totally devoted to his beloved wife of 73 years Catherine (McArthur) and best friends for almost 90 years. Loving Dad and Papa to daughters Carole (Fred) and Marie, grandchildren Kim (Glen), Andrea, Matthew (Sarah) and Jennifer, and great-grandchildren Jade, Tanner, Austin and Chloe. Also survived by his elder brother Clifford (late Irene), and nieces Susan, Patricia and Ruth. Elmer was a senior executive at Simpsons, working there for 43 years and retiring in 1977. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII, and was an active member of Royal York Road United Church. In retirement, he loved travel and enjoyed spending winters in Vero Beach, Florida and summers at Lake Muskoka. Papa will be dearly missed and remembered for his enduring strength, lively spirit, his independence and determination. The family wishes to acknowledge Dad's excellent, caring staff at Amica with special thanks to Dr. S. Deering and Dr. C. Nunes-Vas. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 28th from 1 -2 p.m. at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home , 159 Eglinon Ave. W. (2 lights west of Yonge St.) service to follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. Reception in the Park Room of the funeral home to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in memory of Elmer Rounding may be made to Kensington Hospice (www.kensingtonhealth.org) or to a charity of one's choice.
