Catherine (Kay) Agnes Fallis, (nee Bryans) June 3, 1919 - Jan. 22, 2013
Died peacefully at home with family at her side in her 94th year. Predeceased by husband George A. Fallis, daughter Barbara (Jeff Miller), and brothers Alex and Fred Bryans. Loving mother to George (Sheila Robinson), Catherine, John (Charlene Scime), David (Alison Mackay), and Alex (Karen Woolridge). Granny Kay to her ten grandchildren, Jed, Brooks (Claire), Pearce (Kira), and Zoe; Jessica, Martha, and Mac; John (Bronwen) and Akki; and Colin. She will be missed by sisters-in-law Lois Fallis, Elaine Bryans, and Jane Bryans, her dear friend Judy Dora, and her many nieces and nephews. Kay was born in Toronto where she attended Branksome Hall and University College, U. of T. She devoted her life to her family and the wider community, with dedicated service to the YWCA, St. Christopher House, University College, and Trinity-St. Paul's United Church. For this lifetime of volunteerism she was given the June Callwood Award in 2010. She enjoyed attending concerts and plays, especially if members of her family were performing. Her grandchildren thought she was cool. Whether at her beloved Bruce Beach, at Trinity-St. Paul's Church, or in her many other circles, she was a gentle, wise, and unconditionally accepting friend to all.
Visitation will be held on Sunday January 27, from 5-8 PM, and a Memorial Service on Monday January 28, at 11 AM, both at Trinity-St. Paul's United Church, 427 Bloor Street West, Toronto.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Trinity-St. Paul's United Church or to St. Christopher House. For online condolences, please go to www.etouch.ca
