Leith Macdonald (nee Ferguson)

Leith passed away at Leisure World, O'Connor Court, Toronto, where she spent the last few years in the care of the warm and dedicated staff. Very deeply loved by her only daughter Stephanie and her son-in- law Michael Liversidge. Leith was blessed to have the devoted attention of her personal care visitor, Shyrose Thawer. She will be missed by her many friends in England and Canada as well as her nieces and nephews Ian and Meta Ferguson; Anne and David Treblecock; Shelagh and Bob Miller; Brian Ferguson; Donald and Doris Macdonald; Mary and Colin Campbell; and Peg and Doug Dixon. Graduated from Victoria College, U. of T., 1938. Married in 1941 to Ross H. Macdonald (d.1981), they lived in Ottawa and Cambridge, Mass., before settling in Toronto. Leith joined the staff of East York Collegiate in 1958 and was head of Dramatic Arts from 1970-82. The Canadian Broadcast Museum Foundation holds an archive of her films and theatre work. At Leith's request, there will be a private burial. A celebration of her life will be held at the Toronto Heliconian Club on April 28th.
